The Gesualdo Six performs Secret Byrd

In an unforgettable candlelit experience, The Gesualdo Six join forces with Tesserae Baroque in a collaboration created and directed by Bill Barclay and produced by Concert Theatre Works.

At its heart is William Byrd’s Mass for Five Voices, a masterwork composed during a time of religious persecution. As a secret Catholic in Protestant England, Byrd risked everything to write music for clandestine worship. This immersive vigil brings his hauntingly beautiful Mass to life as it was meant to be heard—hidden, reverent, and radiant in the glow of candlelight.
