Bellissima Serenata
Sunday, March 13, 2022, 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm
Corelli’s Concerti Grossi op. 6 are the cornerstone of the genre, but they probably don’t reflect the way in which the music in this collection was originally heard. As opposed to being organized into concertos, it seems as if most of the music Corelli composed and played Rome was used to frame and punctuate vocal works. Tesserae will recreate this original listening experience by presenting excerpts of Corelli’s music (including adaptions and arrangements of trio sonatas) alongside excerpts from vocal works composed when Corelli was active in Rome. Featuring music by Corelli, Pasquini, A. Scarlatti, Lulier, and Handel.
