Tesserae Baroque presents the West Coast premiere of a new cantata by Reena Esmail, featuring baroque violin (Vijay Gupta), baroque flute (Christopher Matthews), baroque cello (Eva Lymenstull), harpsichord (Ian Pritchard), tabla (Rohit Panchakshari) and Hindustani vocalist Saili Oak. Esmail’s cantata, which sets the iconic Hindi texts of 16C Indian saint-poet Mirabai, will be coupled by vocal music by Elisabeth Jaquet de la Guerre, performed with soprano Andrea Zomorodian, and chamber music by Rameau and Couperin.
