Good Ton: Music of Georgian London
Sunday, March 17, 2024, 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm
In Georgian slang the phrase “good ton” referred to having exceptional taste. This concert will present an afternoon of chamber music as it might have been heard in late-eighteenth century London, especially as enjoyed in the well-heeled private spaces of the upper classes. Featuring a fortepiano, a band of single strings, and period clarinettist Joshua Rubin, this concert will present concerti and sonatas in the intimate setting of the library of the Villa del Sol d’Oro. Featuring music by Johann Christian Bach, Carl Friedrich Abel, and our own Michael Uhlenkott.
Tesserae is delighted to be presenting this program in collaboration with the Da Camera Society.
Due to popular demand, this performance will take place both at 2pm, and at 4pm. Refreshments will be served on the terrace between the two performances.
Please purchase your tickets in advance please visit the Da Camera Society website.
